Overview: NATURE Online is the award-winning Web companion to the broadcast series and is spearheading NATURE’s distribution to new media platforms. NATURE Online develops interactive and behind-the-scenes content that seeks to actively engage visitors in discussing and learning about natural history and conservation. CYBERCHASE Online extends the award-winning mathematics series for children with dynamic Web games and activities that help kids explore their world — and have a blast with math in their homes and neighborhoods.
Responsibilities: The intern will work on two program Websites. For NATURE: Use content management system to import, format, and publish online content; select and process images for articles; coordinate publication of Animal Guides; write promotional copy to accompany video clips on distribution sites; assist with maintenance and updates on Flickr and Facebook groups; update weekly podcast; manage weekly video assets in SplashCast player. For CYBERCHASE: Coordinate with designers on the production of promotional graphics for games and initiatives; assist with scheduled site updates and maintenance; conduct quality assurance testing on Flash games and activities across several browsers and platforms; assist with generation of metrics reports; assist with coordination of video digitization and encoding.
Skills: : Excellent written communication, some knowledge of HTML basics, understanding of online community building, ability to problem solve and learn new software platforms. Preferred: some knowledge of Flash and interest in nature and children’s educational media.
